In a context that lacks values, something different.

Huidobro resigned his seat on the parlament.

In a political context of cynical pragmatism, a very important symptom of moral behavior was issued by Senator Eleuterio Fernandez Huidobro this week.

Tabaré Vazquez was one of the promoters of the plebiscite but this week, using his very well known cynicism, said that "the majority has not always the reason".
Huidobro answered back  "so, why did you call to vote for it?".

Senator Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro resigned his seat, this Tuesday after saying that he will acompany “"by party discipline," the bill repealing the effects of the amnesty law.  "It will be noticed that we do not have other way", huidobro said.

The senator said he recognized that the majority "have rights" and abide it "is the only way when you are militating in an organized party."

“Beyond the similarities or differences, this is about abiding the popular decision, or else, call it again in consultation.” said Fernandez Huidobro to substantiate the reasons of his resignation.

"In 1986 we were the first to call to collect signatures against the impunity law (...) we said thousands of times at public events and in the press that we were going to comply.”

"We have said this to the neighbors, Door to Door, when we went to ask them their signature and afterwards their vote, "recalled the tupamaro senator.

Tomorrow this nation could need vitally this instrument which we are ignoring" said Fernandez Huidobro. He said, “it is an irreparable mistake which will lead us to serious consequences."

"This shift is a serious mistake, I  say it  with the utmost respect for all the Frente Amplio," said the senator.

Huidobro Fernandez said that he will withdraw to "intensify the militancy" in support of the Frente Amplio and the "companion" Mujica. "Abound the places and reasons for it," he said.

The senator said that the resignation has not yet been formally submitted because it firstly need to be approved by his party´s sector, the PAC-L, and then   refer it to President José Mujica.

Fernández Huidobro was visited by President Mujica in his office, when "Pepe" Mujica has known the decision of his "old friend". Mujica said that the legislature "had no choice."
