Halloween in Buenos Aires.

The excuse for people to dress up and party has spread as Halloween celebrations have started to spring up all around the world. Buenos Aires and Argentina is no exception and in the last decade, Halloween has become more celebrated in Buenos Aires. As the expat community has continued to grow and with the constant flow of travellers into Buenos Aires, the bars, pubs and clubs have begun to celebrate this occasion.

Halloween takes place this year on Monday 31st October with most of the parties are taking place on Saturday 29th October, however, there have been Halloween themed parties all of this week. Porteños do not need any excuse to throw a party and as the number of parties increase, we are going to show how best to celebrate Halloween in Buenos Aires this year.

If you are visiting Buenos Aires and are looking to shop for that last minute costume and don’t want to settle for wearing a kitchen pan on your head or cutting a couple of eye holes in your bed sheets, we can help. In spite of other Latin American countries, Argentineans are usually reluctanct to celebrate foreign holidays or to copy North American standards, but over the last few years, Halloween has become more popular in Buenos Aires, due to the increasing number of travelers visiting Argentina. There are not the large amounts of fancy dress shops (Disfraces) for adults you might be used to back at home. The eastern area of Capital Federal, especially the Once district has the best selection of fancy dress shops. The majority of the fancy dress shops can be found on Lavalle.
