The US Government congratulated President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner after being reelected and assured that it will continue to work with the Argentine government to strengthen bilateral ties, State Department spokesman for Latin America William Ostick said.
“We congratulate President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and the people and Government of Argentina,” an email sent by Ostick.
“The United States looks forward to working productively with the future Fernandez de Kirchner Administration,” it added.
“The United States and Argentina share a history of cooperation, and we will continue to work to strengthen and deepen our partnership. We value Argentina's dedication to democratic governance, human rights, regional stability, and global peace and security,” the mail concludes.
Bilateral relations between Argentina and the US went through some rough patch when last February 10th the local government seized cargo from a US military plane that had landed in Ezeiza for some special forces training, after authorities assured they were carrying illegal weaponry and medicine.
